Video of the Day
Billy Spurway is a one-man dirt orchestra, conducting symphonies with a shovel by day and pulling gravity-defying whips by night.
His ability to craft trails and then dominate them is the stuff of MTB legends.
This video is pure poetry in motion, just with more dirt and bigger hits.
⏰ Watch time - 1 min 20 sec
Bonus: Finale’s trails might be world-class, but it’s the people that make it unforgettable.
Brice dives into the passion and purpose behind Stefano’s crew, where digging dirt builds more than just trails, it builds family.
Watch this if you’re ready to feel things, or if you just want to see some epic singletrack.

Myriam Nicole: Powered by Rage, Recovery, and Ridiculous Speed

Born with more grit than grip, Myriam “Pompon” Nicole is France’s most fearsome export since baguettes and passive-aggressive driving.
At 35, she’s got enough World Cup and World Champs hardware to make a trophy shelf groan, and enough collarbone x-rays to qualify for a frequent flyer program at every hospital near a race venue.
She’s not just a downhill mountain bike racer.
She’s a physics-defying storm of curls, speed, and clinical knowledge who wins races, survives disasters, and still finds time to correct your posture.
Call her fast. Call her fearless. Just don’t call her fragile.
From Training Wheels to World Domination

Pompon started riding bikes at the age of five, mostly because her older brothers wouldn’t let her NOT ride.
She ripped off her training wheels like a tiny rebel with a cause and entered her first race 24 hours later. Boom, addiction activated.
By 14, she had to pick a discipline: XC, trials, or downhill.
She chose downhill. Why? “Because I was lazy.”
Translation: pedaling sucks, and falling with style is way cooler.
The Commencal Era

After some early career bouncing around with Giant, she landed on Commencal in 2010.
A relationship that’s lasted longer than most credit scores.
Legend has it she met Thibaut Ruffin (Commencal team manager) in a gondola and pitched herself with a press book, a broken scapula, and big race energy.
Now? She’s the team’s crown jewel and the one keeping the French champagne flowing.
Wins, Wrecks, and Other Moments

Nicole is the human rollercoaster of World Cup racing.
First win was in 2011 in Val di Sole (on flat pedals, no less).
Next win: 2017. Yeah, six whole years of podiums, podiums, podiums, and Rachel Atherton eating everyone alive.
But when Pompon wins, it’s never boring.

2019: breaks her foot so badly she sends “I’m quitting” texts from a hospital bed. 12 hours later she’s planning her comeback.
Fast forward and she’s winning the World Champs in Mont-Sainte-Anne wearing the rainbow jersey like it’s revenge couture.
She does not just recover. She plots her comeback like a Marvel villain with a degree in physiotherapy.
On the UCI Commission, Wielding Justice and Sass

Nicole sits on the UCI Athletes’ Commission, where she fights for better race conditions, gender equality, and common sense, which, as it turns out, is rare.
She’s pushing for more spots for women at races (15 women qualifying? Seriously?), equal support from sponsors, and actual money for racers who spend more time on the podium than in their kitchens.
Why Pompon’s Not Done Yet

PC: Bartek Wolinski
She's broken more bones than bad habits but always returns stronger, mostly because she refuses to lose to gravity.
Nicole’s injuries are basically a recurring subplot in the drama that is women’s DH racing.
But what keeps her coming back? “It’s my passion,” she says. “There’s no point in quitting what you love.”
Spoken like someone who has a long-standing beef with fear and a borderline unhealthy relationship with adrenaline.
A Word on the Women’s Scene
Pompon wants more girls on the start line and less gatekeeping by teams and sponsors.
She's out here trying to grow the sport, run girls' camps, and make it less terrifying for newcomers.
She knows downhill looks like a Red Bull stunt show, but insists: “You can ride downhill in control.”
(Also: bike parks, thank you for finally building green trails that don’t start with 12-foot road gaps and existential dread.)
The Legacy: More Than Just Medals

Nicole’s not just inspiring because she wins, she’s inspiring because she keeps showing up.
She brings speed, brains, and absolute chaos to a sport that tries its best to break you before breakfast.
She’s made the sport better. Louder. Funnier.
And if you're lucky enough to see her on track, watch closely, she might crash, she might win, she might do both at once.
Whatever happens, Pompon always rides like she’s got unfinished business with the mountain.
Long live the queen of speed and suspension travel. Vive Pompon.
Dream Rides ❤️

Big Downhill Energy is nice, but big suspension energy is even better.
The Spindrift 5 comes armed with enough travel to make rough terrain feel like a paved road.

Trail of the Day
South Rim - Hurricane, Utah

South Rim is where mountain biking meets Twister for your tires, just follow the dots, and you’re in for a good time.
It’s got that slick rock vibe that makes you feel like Spider-Man on wheels, except gravity never takes a day off.
The grippy sandstone keeps your line tight, but the wrong move will have you doing an impromptu interpretive dance down the trail.
Don’t overthink it; just trust the dots and send it.
Who knew following polka dots could be this exhilarating?

That’s all for today folks. We hope everyone gets some saddle time out there. See you all on tomorrow! 🤙
