Four-Cross Is Back - The Send It Daily - 378

Today’s issue is pure dirt-soaked adrenaline, no brakes required. Tunnel send, dust storms, British 4X chaos, sea-god bikes, and a derailleur deal so wild it might shift your soul. LET'S SEND IT 👇

We have questions.

Mainly: where’s the clearance, where’s the fear, and why does he look faster inside a tunnel than we are on open trail?

Video of the Day

The Loudenvielle track isn’t just dry. It’s bone-dry, skin-dry, Sahara-level dry.

But these World Cup riders are still shredding it like they’ve got rain in their veins and tires made of Velcro.

Dust to dust or dust to glory?

We’ll let you decide.

Bonus: Thomas decided there’s no better way to break in a new bike than to break in a new bike.

The Shore’s roots, rocks, and relentless steeps were all, ‘You sure about this?’

Thomas: ‘Absolutely.’

Four-Cross Is Back: and the Brits Are Treating It Like a Pub Brawl at Tea Time

Yes, you read that right.

Four-Cross (4X) racing, the sport that’s basically BMX, downhill, and a bar fight with handlebars, is still alive, still kicking, and currently being held hostage by a bunch of fast, furious Brits who look like they were raised on elbow grease and Yorkshire pudding.

After ghosting most of the MTB world, Four-Cross didn’t die, it just did what most chaotic things do: fled to Europe and got faster, weirder, and louder.

While the rest of the MTB universe was busy arguing over geometry and tire inserts, 4X quietly evolved into an underground cult of dirt, speed, and high-stakes shoulder-checking.

Now, the 2025 season is kicking off June 20 at Val di Sole, Italy, and Britain’s rolling in like it owns the damn place.

We’re talking 11 riders topping the UCI point rankings.

That’s more Brits on top than a pack of Hobnobs at a bake sale.

Wait, What the Hell Is Four-Cross?

Picture four riders on one track, no brakes, no friends, no therapy.

Berms, rollers, jumps, elbows, sabotage - welcome to 30-50 seconds of gladiatorial dirt sprinting.

The top two move on, the others go home with bruises and excuses.

It's like Mario Kart meets Fight Club, except the banana peels are replaced with rage, regret, and very questionable line choices.

Val di Sole = The Colosseum of 4X

Val di Sole’s Daolasa track.

A dirt temple. A gravel cathedral. A place where dreams go to die and GoPros go to get launched into orbit.

Once the sun sets and the lights flip on, it becomes a neon-lit dirt rave where gravity heckles you.

It’s fast, it’s brutal, and it’s the only place where being shoulder-checked counts as strategy.

Why Are the Brits Ripping So Hard?

PC: British-4X-Series-Rounds-5--6 Shredhill

Because while everyone else moved on to enduro, the Brits stayed scrappy.

They’ve been quietly dominating the 4X scene.

On the women’s side? The top four in the UCI rankings are Brits, and another two are right behind them.

On the men’s side, you’ve got Scott Beaumont, who’s not only still racing at 47, but also running the whole 4X Pro Tour.

The UK’s also got a killer grassroots scene that still feeds talent into 4X.

Places like Redhill and Afan are breeding grounds for mini missiles in full-face helmets who grow up learning that rubbing is racing, and whining is for roadies.

Your 2025 Four-Cross Calendar (aka The Carnage Tour)

PC: British-4X-Series-Rounds-5--6 Shredhill

  • June 20–22 – Val di Sole, Italy: The grand kickoff. Dust, elbows, glory. Possibly blood.
  • July 12 – Jablonec, Czech Republic: Tight, technical.
  • August 2 – Dobrany, Czech Republic: Flow with a side of pain and existential crisis.
  • September 6 – Szczawno Zdroj, Poland: The finale. Can’t say it, can’t skip it, can’t survive it.

This year is shaping up to be a banger.

Expect brutal battles between aging legends like Tomas Slavik, who’s still riding like he’s got something to prove to his chiropractor, and new-school senders like Stefano Dolfin, who might not even believe in brakes.

Is This the Comeback?

Let’s not kid ourselves. Four-Cross probably isn’t getting a Netflix documentary anytime soon.

But if you like sports where things are guaranteed to go wrong at 40kph, this is your jam.

Tune in June 20. Elbows out, popcorn ready.

Trail of the Day

Horsethief Drop Mountain Biking Trail - Loma, Colorado

The Horsethief Drop is a rite of passage, or a walk of shame if you chicken out.

With its 2-4 ft vertical drops and a steep canyon rim descent, this trail has more drama than a soap opera.

If you make it to the bench trail, you’re rewarded with stunning views, epic singletrack, and a vague sense of invincibility.

Is it worth the heart palpitations? Absolutely.

Deal of the Week

SRAM SX Eagle Rear Derailleur - OE Packaged $85.00 $14.99 (SAVE 82 %)

Now serving trickle-down tech without the trickle-down price.

Ever wanted to shift like a baller on a budget?

It’s got the same DNA as its top-tier siblings, compatible with massive 10-50T or 11-50T cassettes, just without the “sell-a-kidney” MSRP.

Thanks to the Cage Lock, swapping wheels is easier than dodging trail responsibilities.

And with X-Actuation keeping every shift crisp and tantrum-free, it’s your wallet-friendly ticket to the Eagle ecosystem.

PS: We don’t make money sharing these products. We just love a good deal.

That’s all for today folks. We hope everyone gets some saddle time out there. See you all on tomorrow! 🤙

For the ❤️ of two wheels.
